Portraits

  • A woman with glasses smiling and holding a drawing of herself, which includes written notes about her likes and dislikes, in a casual indoor setting with various items and people in the background.

    Live Portrait Drawing

There is nothing like sitting across the table from someone and drawing their portrait. Along with the challenge of getting their likeness on paper, I am also delighted to listen to their stories.

Some featured events I’ve been a part of include Valentine Couple portrait nights at A.R.T. Gallery in Wyoming, drawing portraits with Julia Lipovsky at the Hats off fundraiser for Cincinnati Parks Foundation, and many many other community events and informal sittings.

I’m available for individual portrait sessions, weddings, parties, fundraisers, and on assignment. Please contact me to book a live drawing event. Pricing is by length of time, location, and number of faces.

  • A man smiling, wearing glasses and a fez, holding a sketch of himself playing a guitar. He's dressed in a red shirt and brown jacket, in a jazz club.

    On the Bandstand

Because of my association with one of Cincinnati’s hardest working musicians — Ricky Nye — I get to hear and draw lots of people playing music. Here are some of those drawings.

  • Line drawing of a man wearing glasses, a hat, and an apron, smiling and resting his arm on a surface with fingers interlocked. The drawing is signed by Karen Boyhen, 2019.
